West Point and Yellowjacket Campground Rehabilitation

Aerial imaging used in this project helped Cardno and the client identify previously hidden hazards.

Cardno used Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) to obtain images and photogrammetry to supplement a targeted ground survey.

The client was in need of specific information to identify hazards within the project area.

The UAS allowed us to see the hazards that were not captured by the ground survey. Using UAS helped direct Cardno’s design team to avoid the previously hidden hazards. We used the high definition aerial imaging to stitch together a full picture of the campgrounds.

To further help the client, Cardno then used the aerial image as a background for an Infraworks design model. By utilizing this technology the team was able to show proposed campsites and roadways overlaid on high definition aerial images.
