Verde Drive, which is located west of Solomon Road, is an urban 8-metre wide pavement contained within a 32-metre reserve.
As part of the Verde Drive Extension works, there was a requirement to upgrade the existing portion of Verde Drive to a divided carriageway and extend this to Main Roads Western Australia's (MRWA) Armadale Road to Northlake Road Bridge design. The works also included the extension of Prinsep Road, an industrial 8-metre wide pavement, to tie-in to the Verde Drive extension in order to accommodate future traffic.
The site is characterised by high groundwater levels (residing close to natural surface), requiring the road to be lifted to maintain clearance to groundwater in addition to interfacing with MRWA's roadworks design. Given the restricted nature of the existing and proposed road reserve, Cardno provided a compliant design that aimed to minimise land acquisition whilst meeting appropriate design standards.
