Cardno provided structural engineering services for the Sterling II Data Center, the second facility on CyrusOne’s data center campus in Northern Virginia.
This high-performing data center is two stories, 348,000 sf and comprised of data halls, raised floor space, Class A office space and additional support areas. The shell building is a precast concrete framing system consisting of double tees, beams, columns and panels.
Companies experiencing rapid and unexpected growth often need a quick solution to meet increased IT capacity requirements.
Cardno’s structural engineers collaborated closely with the Sterling II Data Center project team under an accelerated schedule to complete the facility in a record six months. Cardno’s extensive experience, quality work, and early foundation, steel, bid, and permit packages were beneficial in speeding up approvals and construction.
The 2017 ENR MidAtlantic Best Project Awards recognized the Sterling II Data Center with the Best Project Award in the Manufacturing category.
