Cardno provided structural design services for the build-out of an existing 126,800 sf shell building on Shaw Road in Sterling, Virginia into a fully redundant data center, i.e., Sterling Colocation Site and Data Center Campus IV. The facility is on a 10-acre site located a short distance from Dulles International Airport. Security features include a reinforced physical structure, secure entry with steel-lined walls and bullet resistant glass and a perimeter fence with entry and exit gates.
This Sterling IV facility can provide up to 12.6 Megawatts (MW) of power, making for robust connectivity, which is ideal for mission critical applications and Fortune 1000 companies with large-scale IT requirements. The Cardno structures team utilized its extensive data center experience and proactively collaborated with other project team members and disciplines to deliver the Sterling Colocation Site and Data Center Campus IV to market at an accelerated speed to help fulfill growing customer demand.
