Cardno's full range of engineering services contributed to improving safety along this heavily travelled corridor.

Cardno was selected to provide professional engineering services to the Florida Department of Transportation for milling and resurfacing and widening a 3.7-mile segment of SR 580 from Air Cargo Road to North Lee Place in Hillsborough County.

This six-lane divided roadway serves as a major arterial road that provides connection between the Veterans Expressway and Dale Mabry Highway, as well as Dale Mabry Highway and I-275. This roadway provides commuters a direct connection between Hillsborough and Pinellas Counties.

Cardno provided engineering design services for the roadway, drainage, signing and pavement marking, and signalization, as well as permitting, survey and subsurface utility engineering (SUE) services. There are nine signalized intersections within the project limits along with eleven non-signalized intersections.

The purpose of the project was to extend the service life of this roadway, add sidewalks and address any ADA deficiencies along the corridor.

Addressing safety concerns throughout the limits was a primary goal for this project. The addition of new sidewalks, widening for bicycle lanes, reconstruction of two signalized intersections, and upgrades to pedestrian features at all signalized intersections all contributed to improving safety along this heavily travelled corridor.

Cardno's focus on quality engineering and cost-effective design solutions will provide the public with a safer traveling corridor designed within budget.
