In May 2015, Lendlease entered into agreements for the purchase of the 576 hectare Mt. Gilead property located between the Hume Highway and Appin Road, immediately south of the existing suburb of Campbelltown. The property consists of three main land parcels and is expected to yield approximately 5,000 residential lots.
Cardno partnered with Lendlease and was involved in due diligence and feasibility investigations that informed the acquisition of the property. After the acquisition, Cardno was engaged as the principal civil consultant. This role involves the coordination and delivery of civil and utility designs for the site, as well as providing support for obtaining development approvals.

Cardno acts as the Principal Civil Consultant to manage varying design disciplines and delivers the project with Lendlease in accordance with the six phases of the brief:
- site analysis and constraints mapping/planning
- master planning
- rezoning application
- detailed precinct planning
- design brief
- commercial assessment.
Development applications for the subdivision have been submitted to Council for the first stage of the project, and lead-in utility designs are progressing to service the first and future stages of the development. Construction is expected to commence on Stage 1 in 2019.
