The Port of Tacoma is one of the top ten largest container ports in America and a major gateway for trade with Asia and Alaska. Over the past two decades, the port has invested more than $160 million in projects designed to improve the environment in and around Commencement Bay, on which the port is located.
Cardno has been retained by the Port of Tacoma to provide engineering design services and construction supervision to a number of projects and developments at the facility being undertaken by the port.
As part of this engagement, we’ve developed construction packages, reviewed project development documents, provided advice and guidance on project requirements, maintained capital improvement budgets and provided high-level reports to port commissioners.
Cardno has managed a number of projects associated with the widening of the Blair Waterway, including the management of consultants performing the design work. We were also responsible for coordinating the consultation process required for these projects with the port’s tenants, utility companies, businesses and the City of Tacoma.
