The 1 million sf Patriots Plaza Complex is located in southwest Washington, D.C. and consists of three 12-story office buildings with five levels of below-grade parking under each building. The buildings are designed with enhanced security features to provide a safe working environment suitable for government or private tenants.
All three phases of the complex are comprised of mild reinforced concrete and constructed to effectively prevent progressive collapse failure. Exterior concrete walls are hardened in public areas, and the exterior facades are designed to resist blast loads.
The Concrete Reinforcing Steel Institute awarded Phase I a Special 2006 Design Construction Excellence Award for Structural Security. Patriots Plaza Phases II and III are certified LEED Core & Shell Gold.
