The redevelopment of Parklands, into seven hectares of master-planned residential and retail precincts and seven hectares of open space, is one of the Gold Coast’s largest urban renewal projects. Cardno partnered with the developer, Grocon every step of the way.
We provided strategic project positioning advice to Grocon during the initial bid phase and when Grocon was selected as the preferred developer our town planning team tailored a bespoke development application and approval strategy.
The application and strategy leveraged our half century of local knowledge as well as the strong working relationships Cardno has forged with the three key stakeholders: Queensland Government, Economic Development Queensland and the Gold Coast City Council.
Cardno’s consistent consultation and engagement with these stakeholders helped facilitate a rapid development approval, secured in three months of lodgement.
From there, a number of Cardno’s engineering teams embedded themselves with the design team, including three of Australia’s leading architects, and the construction team to create innovative solutions to complex problems and minimise costs, while ensuring the highest-quality outcomes for this transformative urban renewal project.
Cardno is proud to have contributed to the success of Parklands; a unique urban renewal project which has served as a 6,000 person accommodation village for a major sporting event and is now transitioning towards a residential community around a ‘Village Heart’.
