The Manatee County Advanced Traffic Management System (ATMS) projects are a multi-phased deployment of state-of-the-art technologies for the mitigation of traffic congestion and the improvement of traffic operations and traffic management in Manatee County. Deployment included fiber optic installation, CCTV and DMS installation and vehicle detection upgrades.
The Manatee County ATMS consisted of two projects, Phase 1 and Phase 2. The projects were let separately as Design/Build, with Phase 1 beginning in 2008 and Phase 2 completion in 2012.
Cardno performed Construction, Engineering, and Inspection (CEI) services for both projects. CEI services included complete project management, inspection, and review of proposed design plans from the Design/Build Firms. Plan reviews were performed at all design submittal stages.
Work under these two contracts included the installation of a new control and monitoring system located at the Manatee County Public Safety Center, a county-wide fiber optic backbone, 225 new traffic controllers, 60 CCTV, and 60 non-intrusive system detector locations (MVDS).
