Cardno is providing comprehensive Subsurface Utility Engineering data for the largest community college district in the United States.

The Los Angeles Community College District (LACCD) is the largest community college in the United States, serving more than 250,000 students at nine campuses. Overall, the LACCD covers 882 square miles and serves students in 36 cities.

BuildLACCD is a $9.5 billion building improvement program funded through a 2016 board measure. The objective is to modernize and improve outdated campus facilities to meet seismic safety requirements, comply with Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and outfit them with new technology.

Cardno is collecting subsurface utility information as well as providing comprehensive mapping of existing wet and dry utilities. This phase of the project includes utility designation for nine campuses covering more than 800+ acres, including 1,200 test holes to provide detailed information to help the client manage and mitigate subsurface utility risks.

Cardno is the prime consultant overseeing the condition assessment and topographic surveys and is performing complete site utility locating and mapping. The project is currently 30 percent complete and is on schedule.
