Kings Highway is a significant transportation project in St. Lucie County, Florida. The highway plays a major role for development in the area. In addition to the roadway widening, portions of the existing North St Lucie River Water Control District (NSLRWCD) Canal 40 will be repaired and/or relocated as a consequence of the widening. Existing ditches will be replaced and a new closed drainage system will be installed, providing drainage solutions and off-site ponds for water quality and flood attenuation purposes. Once completed, the project will enhance safety and traffic operations through the corridor and improve the overall system capacity.
Cardno provided construction administration, inspection of materials, and quality assurance. In addition, we:
- Provided field inspection to ensure compliance with plans and specifications
- Assisted with field engineering solutions
- Reviewed and processed contractor payments
U.S. Congressman Brian Mast, who serves on the U.S. House of Representatives Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure, visited the site to gain a better understanding of the lifecycle of a Federally funded Transportation Project. Cardno staff provided an overview of the process from design to delivery, outlining the steps involved with administering the contract and processing payments for the contractor, in addition to the process to ensure the quality of construction and meeting the clients’ schedule and budget.
