Cardno is conducting mitigation site monitoring and maintenance services for a major highway corridor upgrade project in central Indiana.

Cardno is assisting the Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT)’s Environmental Services Office with wetland, stream, and riparian monitoring and associated maintenance. The project features eight mitigation sites totaling approximately 15,875 linear feet of stream mitigation, associated riparian buffers and 122 acres of wetland mitigation.

The project goal is to offset impacts from construction activities associated with the 36-mile Hoosier Heartland (SR 25) upgrade project. Cardno provides site specific invasive species management, tree and plant installation, monitoring of native species development, and coordination among multiple agencies and landowners.

Our field teams have installed approximately 14,500 1-3 gallon tree seedling containers, 7,500 bare root seedlings, and over 1,000 live stakes to address site deficiencies. Cardno provides holistic long-term solutions to erosion and overall habitat establishment to meet multiple objectives set forth by state and federal permits.

Our staff works closely with the Indiana Department of Natural Resources to manage habitat restoration of seeps, wetland, stream, and riparian habitats to align with the mitigation objectives and public usage goals at Prophetstown State Park.
