Grand Lakes Estate

Cardno has been involved in the Grand Lakes Estate project from its inception in 2008, undertaking town planning, survey, civil design, structural design, project management and contract administration phases of the project.

This 100Ha Grand Lakes Estate is a residential development delivering 800 lots including around 18 hectares of open space with three ornamental lakes and expansive areas of wetlands and landscaped parkland, four kilometres of walking and cycling trails, nearly one kilometre of boardwalks.

Cardno has been involved in the design of internal roads, servicing, sewer pump station and rising main design and the extensive wetland and open water elements running through the development.

Significant liaison has occurred with the City of Greater Geelong, Barwon Water and other service authorities to provide for future servicing requirements of this estate, including a 2.5km sewer rising main, 8m deep sewer pump station and over 19ha of parkland and reserves to be landscaped and provided to the community.

Bridge being constructed at Grand Lakes estate

As part of the Grand Lakes estate, Cardno undertook the structural and civil design and construction management for a culvert bridge.

The bridge is a 12m long by 16m wide crossing of the wetland system and forms the centerpiece of the development.

Cardno was instrumental in the creation of the development which put the Geelong region at the forefront of residential development.

The Grand Lakes Estate had won numerous awards over the years:
