Located in Hillsborough County, Florida, the Ed Radice Sports Complex is a 155-acre premier multi-sport facility.
Cardno was engaged by the client to provide a design package for this regional sports park that would utilize an open space design with lighting to maximize flexibility for field sports and special events.
Our experienced team responded to the site and created designs for the following facilities:
- five-field little league baseball complex
- five-field softball complex
- nine-field soccer facility.
Other components of the park design included concession buildings, landscaping and irrigation, wetland enhancements, a road, sidewalks, parking, and utility services.
The primary design layout included placing fields in pairs and in the preferred north/south orientation. Light poles were placed at the perimeter of the pairs of fields, with a single pole placed at the midpoint of each cluster between the two fields.
Wetland mitigation and stormwater management facilities were sustainably designed to enhance natural wetland areas along the perimeter of the site, with a reclaimed water pipeline network providing reused water for irrigation.
