Dampier Palms and Hampton Oval Redevelopment

Dampier Palms and Hampton Oval Redevelopment Concept

Cardno has developed a great understanding of the Dampier Palms and Hampton Oval Redevelopment, which is a significant high-profile project for our client, the City of Karratha.

Our team has been involved providing excellence with the preliminary design of the redevelopment, including master planning and design development.

The intended redevelopment design will help to create a 'Destination Foreshore of Choice' for the local residents as well as its visitors. The methodology used for the recreational activity area proposes to generate distinct zones for different age groups and abilities and unify them through paths and pleasing landscape, with the use of local materiality.

The landscape design, with the aid of civil and structural inputs, is sensitive to the existing landscape as well as standing up to the extreme local climate conditions. Existing trees on-site were required to be retained. Therefore, the trees were augmented by new tree plantings and upgraded irrigation whilst minimal site grading will also create a new and vibrant foreshore.

This foreshore precinct will cater for a wide range of enjoyable activities, including land and water based activities and community and commercial events. Other key features of the redevelopment include an amphitheatre, shade structures, boardwalk, lighting, car parking, path networks and associated hardscapes and softscapes for everyone to enjoy throughout the seasons.
