In 2009, College Rifles was the first rugby club in New Zealand to convert to a fully synthetic turf at their Remuera facility in Auckland. This change saw weekly usage of the facilities increase from 20 hours, to 70 hours per week and has had a transformational impact on the club.
College Rifles now regularly hosts elite international teams for training camps, as well as for home matches for their own club teams, which range from Premier men’s and women’s, to youth rugby teams.
When the design life of the original turf expired, College Rifles engaged Cardno to procure and manage the construction of a new synthetic turf across two full size rugby fields.
To deliver the project with minimal impact to the club during peak season, Cardno’s Auckland team will carefully manage the project and provide construction administration and engineering services.
Our local team will also undertake the following services:
- manage authority approvals
- provide procurement advice
- undertake early contractor engagement
- manage and make recommendations for construction tenders
- author and negotiate contractual terms
- supervise construction
- perform the role of engineer to the contract.
Construction is due to commence in early September 2018.
