City of College Park Brownfields Assessment & Cleanup Grants

Breaking ground at City of College Park Brownfields site

Cardno’s brownfields team provided their expertise in support of a 311-acre, $1.5 billion mixed-use project – Six West in College Park, adjacent to the Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport.

The project will offer mixed-use development offering residences, retail, office, hotels, and other amenities. Cardno staff have assisted the City of College Park, Georgia and the College Park Business and Industrial Development Authority in acquiring $1,100,000 in U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Brownfields Assessment and Cleanup Grant funding.

In support of Six West and other developments, Cardno has completed 52 Phase I environmental site assessments (ESA), nine Phase II ESAs, and 7 cleanup/reuse plans. One additional Phase II ESA is ongoing as well as cleanup planning for multiple sites.

Further, hazardous building materials (asbestos, lead-based paint, microbial growth) have been abated and soil contaminated with hazardous substances has been addressed.
