The 40th Avenue NE Bridge connects two St. Petersburg neighborhoods, Northeast Park and Shore Acres. The city discovered hidden structural issues under the center portion of the bridge and temporarily closed it to make emergency repairs. During the repair process, additional deterioration was discovered and it was determined that a new structure was needed.
Cardno provided a basis of design to determine the overall requirements for the bridge, which included public input and collaboration. The team prepared preliminary designs, final designs, and biddable construction contract documents. Services included:
- project development and environmental services
- NEPA Type 2 Categorical Exclusion
- preliminary and final bridge design
- bridge hydraulic report
- utility coordination
- environmental permitting
- preparation of biddable and constructible documents
In addition, the Cardno team prepared a draft Navigation Impact Report for the Coast Guard Seventh District Bridge Administration for the proposed replacement of the bridge, which is planned to begin in 2020.
