Our teams perform services for Departments of Transportation across the country
Cardno scientists, engineers, and planners around the U.S. have active prequalifications and contracts with Departments of Transportation (DOT) in 12 states.
Around the country, our teams are performing work for DOTs as specialty consultants prequalified for the work Cardno proposes to perform. Many DOTs require these prequalifications in order for firms to be eligible to bid on new contracts.
This requirement applies to prime contract work as well as subcontractors and helps DOTs minimize risk by ensuring work on their projects is performed by qualified, responsible, and responsive companies.
State requirements vary, but all pre-qualifications include a disclosure of financials, project history in each state, and relevant staff qualifications. In many cases, state DOTs have prequalifications in a number of categories and the decision on which categories to select for prequalification is quite strategic.
Cardno provides a number of environmental and engineering services for DOTs, including but not limited to infrastructure, biological and ecological services, NEPA/environmental permitting, water resources, native vegetation support, cultural resources, and construction engineering and inspection (CEI). Our active state DOT prequalifications include:
- North Carolina
“State Departments of Transportation know our work and appreciate the expertise our teams bring to their quickly changing infrastructure needs on land and water,” said Lance Lairscey, President of Cardno’s Infrastructure Division. “States’ needs for efficient, sustainable, and enhanced transportation projects are poised to grow significantly in the years ahead.”
A few highlights include:
For the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) we have performed work on major public infrastructure improvement projects, including design/build roadways, CEI, and transportation design projects for FDOT throughout Florida. This includes one of the most significant transportation projects in Pinellas County in decades: the Pinellas Gateway Express project.
We recently expanded our prequalifications with the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT). Environmental Project Manager Mike Eagan’s return to Cardno positions Cardno to perform additional services for GDOT including ecology, stream restorations/mitigations, natural resources assessments, and environmental permitting. Mike will be assisting in our ongoing support of the mixed-use College Park project in Georgia.
Our work with the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) includes project management and support for major water resources, natural resource mitigation, and restoration projects throughout the state of Ohio, including the Tait Station Dam Removal. We’ve held a multi-million dollar contract with ODOT for the past five years and have been ranked #1 by their scoring measures.
