Nev Connell appointed Senior Principal

Business Manager – Landscape Architect and newly appointed Senior Principal, Nev Connell, has been designing, planning, managing and delivering award-winning projects for over 35 years.

Nev has worked across both the public and private sectors, delivering projects which include strategic planning and landscape design of infrastructure; commercial and residential; living collections (zoos and botanic gardens); new communities and town centres; expositions; regional landscape planning, education, health care and aged care facilities; open space and recreation facilities; and hospitality and resort projects.

During his career working on a diverse range of projects in Australia, the Middle East and Asia, Nev has gained valuable experience and knowledge, which can only be acquired over years of working within multi-disciplinary teams in different geographies with different cultures.

An already active proponent of sharing his knowledge with the next generation of Landscape Architects, Nev will utilise his appointment as Senior Principal to progress those in the formative stages of their careers.

“The appointment to Senior Principal provides recognition of my experience and expertise,” he said.

“It will allow me to share what I’ve learnt through my extensive project experience: learning from my mistakes, peers and colleagues from different disciplines and passing it on to the next generation of designers to further help them grow and develop.”

Having lived and worked in numerous countries, Nev has seen the positive impacts landscape architects can bring to projects and communities.

“Landscape Architects have the ability to address the bigger picture,” Nev said.

“We are able to utilise our diverse design, environmental and planning services to work with multi-disciplinary teams to create design solutions from the ground up, providing substantive community facilities, spaces and places which enhance the sustainability of projects and liveability our communities.

“As a Senior Principal, I’ll be able to further drive our landscape design services and their benefits here at Cardno and to our clients, helping to achieve greater innovation and integrated project outcomes.”
