Melanie Nembhard appointed to Cardno’s Inclusion, Diversity, & Equity Council
Cardno’s ID&E Council was formed to give employees the opportunity to design their own inclusive work environment and achieve the organization’s goal to promote social equity internally and externally.
Earlier this year, Melanie helped launch Cardno’s most recent employee resource group: the Black, Indigenous, and People of Color or BIPOC ERG in the Americas Region.
In reflecting on the development of the new group, Melanie said that she had been inspired to provide a voice for those of her cultural background and wanted to offer an opportunity for others of different backgrounds throughout Cardno to have a place to do the same.
“I believe that it is not until you hear about others’ perspectives and experiences that you can start to build a culture where everyone feels included,” said Melanie Nembhard. “The creation of this group shows that Cardno wants to hear what’s going on with its staff. These ERGs not only provide an opportunity for staff to feel heard, they also bring our company so much value, internally and externally.”
Cardno has many other active working groups including Voice (LGBTQ+), Veterans, Women in Cardno, Mental Health and Wellness, Accessibility, Age Diversity, and Racial Diversity/Indigenous Engagement which all contribute to its inclusive culture.
Cardno’s team comprises of people from all walks of life, race and religion, operating across more than 100 offices and speaking more than 100 languages. Together they contribute to the rich fabric of Cardno’s workplace culture and diverse approach to making a difference for clients and communities around the world.
