John Kabouris appointed Senior Principal
John Kabouris, PhD, P.E., Wastewater Technology Specialist, and newly appointed Senior Principal has over 30 years of professional experience.
Dr. Kabouris is a wastewater and biosolids process expert who has conducted internationally recognized research on computer modeling of wastewater treatment processes and on the co-digestion of municipal sludge and fat, oil and grease under conventional and advanced digestion.
“My experience from innovative and state of the art to design and research projects for clients of all sizes including Miami-Dade, Pinellas County, City of Tallahassee, Clean Water Services and Sydney Water Company allows me to come up with innovative solutions that match the client needs on treatment process enhanced performance, cost saving, reliability and ease of operation.
"I'm currently involved in the design and development of an innovative step-feed nutrient removal process for Hernando County in Florida. It will allow Hernando County to save in the order of 40 to 50 percent in capital cost, lifecycle cost, power consumption and concrete required to implement the projected in comparison to the previously planned oxidation ditch based nutrient removal process, he said."
Throughout his career, he has served as a project manager, process engineer, and project engineer in biological nutrient removal treatment and biosolids studies, master planning, and design projects and has a long record of leadership service to the Water Environment Federation.
Dr. Kabouris is a contributing author to WEF manuals of practice and his work has been published in national and international journals and conference proceedings. He has also served as associate editor of the Journal of Water Environment Research.
Dr. Kabouris’s role as Senior Principal will see him continue using innovative approaches that make a difference in project outcomes.
