International Women in Engineering Day 2019
Cardno is proud to support the International Women in Engineering Day (INWED) on Sunday 23 June and this year’s theme is #TransformTheFuture.
In the lead up to #INWED 2019, we’re celebrating the contributions that our female engineers make to our business.
INWED raises the profile of women in engineering which has a positive impact towards gender balance and shines a light on all the opportunities available to women in the engineering profession. It also gives us an opportunity to recognise and celebrate the outstanding achievements of our female engineers across the globe.
Our female engineers share their perspectives
“I’m transforming the future by being a role model for my children. I’m a mother AND an engineer. I work to deliver projects that shape our society for future generations to enjoy.”
“My engineering career has been interesting and rewarding. I’ve worked on a range of projects, and one of the best was an acid mine in the Sierra Nevada Mountains at 6500 feet in trying conditions.”
Santa Barbara, California
“I worked as a participation ambassador at university. I think seeing more companies targeting STEM to young people will see an increase in enrolments, creating a larger talent pool of engineers.”
“Engineering allows me to use my love of design and curiosity to solve problems and better my community.”
“I have always been interested in mathematics. Working through calculations is something that excited me since I was young. The whole aspect of designing infrastructure using equations and theories interested me.”
Sydney, New South Wales
“I strive to use my courage and unique perspective to empower others to challenge old ideas in order to better local communities and the engineering industry.”
