Heather Schwar, senior water resources engineer, presented at the 14th Annual Wisconsin Association for Floodplain, Stormwater, and Coastal Management (WAFSCM) Conference, Nov. 11.
Heather discussed the stormwater management plan for Harwood Heights, which was one of five pilot studies developed by the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago. The project partnered with local communities and residents to develop community-based plans to address local flooding. Heather presented potential solutions for Harwood Heights, including traditional/grey infrastructure and sustainable/green infrastructure solutions.
The WAFSCM Conference brings together professionals to share their experiences in a variety of water-related issues from all sectors, including local government leaders, community administrators and environmental groups.
With 16 years of experience, Heather has worked for the federal government, local planning commissions, and private consultants. Her past experience covers the entire range of a project life, from planning and concept, through design and permitting, and into construction and monitoring.
