Cardno water specialist to lead food & beverage event

Cardno’s John Burns, National Industrial Water Practice Director, is co-chairing the Water Management Committee at this year’s annual Food & Beverage Environmental Conference (FBEC), from April 10 to 14, in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. This year’s theme, “Strategies for Meeting Evolving Challenges,” will feature presentations on the industry’s water management practices. Approximately 200 industry environmental managers, executives, and supplier/consultants will be attending the five-day event.

As co-chair, John secured speakers for the conference’s water management session to discuss advances in technology and management practices that improve water efficiency at manufacturing facilities.

A representative from Lagunitas Brewing Company will discuss the company’s industrial water re-use project that has reduced its water footprint by 40 percent. A representative of the Beverage Industry Environmental Roundtable (BIER) will discuss the group’s latest water stewardship initiatives. BIER is a technical coalition of more than 20 leading global beverage companies working together to advance environmental sustainability in the beverage sector.

John is a chemical engineer with more than 25 years of experience worldwide in process design, research and development, product commercialization, project management, manufacturing operations, technical sales, and marketing. His main expertise is in water quality and processing technology.

FBEC, sponsored by the Food Industry Environmental Council (FEIC), is the premier environmental event for the food & beverage industry. It brings together industry professionals to share their experiences with sustainable practices, environmental compliance, and new technologies.
