Cardno was proud to sponsor prominent toxicology experts
Cardno was pleased to host the Australian College of Toxicology & Risk Assessment (ACTRA), ‘Sensitisation (chemical allergy)’ workshop in Melbourne on 2 June 2017.
This Workshop aimed to provide the first bridging step between basic theory of toxicology and risk assessment and high-level expert risk assessment using multi-source, and seemingly conflicting, toxicological and epidemiological information.
Notable speakers from Monash University, CDM Smith, Tox Consult, ACCORD Australasia and the Victorian Department of Health and Human Services provided a brief introduction to the toxicological mechanism of sensitisation (both skin and respiratory), test methodologies and the theory behind the risk assessment and risk management of sensitisers. The day also included a hands-on learning component, where attendees worked through case studies from “puzzle pieces” through to the final assessment of risk.
ACTRA advances the study and applications of toxicology and health risk assessment as professional scientific disciplines, and cultivates the highest standards of professional practice and ethics in persons engaged in the sciences of toxicology and health risk assessment in Australasia.
