Cardno traffic expert discusses industry trends at Engineers Australia event
Cardno’s Matthew Ballard was invited to share his insights into market trends and fast-growing areas in the engineering industry at an Engineers Australia evening seminar in Melbourne, Australia on 20 September.
Matthew discussed that safety and efficiency would be the market trends for traffic engineering with the support of safe systems, land-use planning, and intelligent transport. Tools and technologies such as real-time Bluetooth data collection, GIS-ready drones and vehicle simulation provide up-to-date, customisable and accurate data that assist traffic engineers with their projects and work.
The seminar was hosted by Young Engineers Australia, Women in Engineering, and Electrical Energy Society of Australia in Melbourne. It was part of a series of short talks on a range of technologies which will be finding their way into engineering projects, industry and work in the next five years.
Matthew Ballard, an associate in Cardno's Melbourne office, has practised in the field of traffic and transport for over 12 years. His key areas of expertise are in transport planning, traffic and parking impact assessment, travel and parking management plans, intersection analysis, report composition, road safety audits, traffic survey coordination and supervision, project management, functional design of intersections, site access points and car parks and safety management of railway level crossings.
