Cardno’s new Golden, Colorado office opens to support expansion of utility engineering and surveying services
Located at 150 Capital Drive, Suite 190, the office is now open with an expanded staff to respond to the market’s increased need and demand for Utility Engineering and Surveying (UES) in Colorado. The office is led by Scott Throm, PLS, RLS, CFeDS, who has more than 19 years of experience as a project surveyor and manager for large engineering firms, including as Survey Manager for the Colorado Department of Transportation.
“We are excited to expand our footprint in the Colorado market,” says Scott Throm. “With the Golden office, in addition to multiple offices in the state, we continue to build on our services and provided additional support for clients and projects across the region. We’ve seen increased demand for professional Utility Engineering and Surveying services due to Colorado SB 18-167 law and the need for quality information on above and underground utilities.”
Last year, Colorado passed SB 18-167 ASCE 38 into a new law requiring all public projects designed by a professional engineer, such as roadways, to use ASCE 38 as the basis for utility investigations and depictions on plans. This statute was passed to prevent personal injury and property damage resulting from unintentionally harming underground facilities and utilities during excavation.
Cardno staff in the Golden office have decades of experience investigating & mapping utilities for municipalities, roadways, airports, and all phases of land development for the public and private sector.
