Greatest professional achievement?

Developing risk-based and systematic analysis and prioritization methods to help clients reduce risk-to-mission, achieve business objectives, and improve measureable performance. These methods have made a difference for my clients by helping them achieve their work performance objectives, enhance the success of their organizations, and increase their professional profiles.

How is it making a difference?

The risk-based approach helps organizations identify and evaluate investment risks and opportunities, measure and increase resilience, and decrease the time it takes to recover from disruptive “shocks” to facilities, assets, and operating and support systems.

Following are examples where this methodology has made a difference for our clients:

Our team conducted a risk-based analysis of climate change and severe weather events on over 3,200 U.S. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) properties. We made a difference by identifying the top 40 NOAA facilities at the greatest risk to climate change threats! We also made a difference by providing NOAA a standardized assessment process for identifying facility infrastructure climate change risks and developing site-specific adaptation and resilience improvement plans.
I made a difference by helping the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) Environmental Management Division leadership identify and assess the viability of resourcing options to respond and adapt to budget and staff reduction shocks, including identifying means to regionalize and standardize key functions such as contracting.
The US Coast Guard adopted a risk-based investment prioritization method, our team developed their shore facilities infrastructure that changed the way they prioritized and selected infrastructure investments. Previous approaches did not adequately consider risk factors and typically selected the highest cost projects without regard to mission risk. With the risk-based prioritization method that was defensible, auditable, repeatable, transparent and systematic (DARTS), Coast Guard decision makers were able to make better, more efficient, and more timely investment decisions that reduced risk-to-mission.
