Regional Senior Principal - Utility Coordination
Altamonte Springs, Florida, United States
Greatest professional achievement?
Being a Project Manager on the I-4 Ultimate project in Orlando. The project is a Mega Design-Build (P3) reconstruction of 22 miles of Interstate 4 through downtown Orlando with 12 interchanges including a five level interchange at SR 408 (East-West Expressway). Cardno coordinated over 4000 conflicts with 34 utility owners, designated 79 miles of utility facilities and performed 2100 test holes.
How is it making a difference?
It is the project that the Florida Department of Transportation refers to when talking about how a team can work closely with the utility owners and the designer / contractor to ensure that no utilities are damaged or hold up the construction efforts.
What is your technical expertise?
Utility Coordination – we act as the liaison between the project owner / designer / contractor to ensure that all utility facilities are identified on a project. Once these facilities are shown on the plans we determine whether their facilities are in conflict, negotiate a design / construction modification (if possible). If a conflict cannot be avoided, we then work with the utility owner to plan where and when they can relocate.
What makes you tick?
Simple, I enjoy what I do and the people I do it with.
I am surrounded with people who are very smart and they teach me something new every day. We work hard, and laugh even harder.
What do you do to relax?
I own a horse (or should I say – she owns me), nothing beats going to the barn – being outside (even in the Florida heat) and connecting with this beautiful creature!
Any other wise words?
I try to live by the Mark Twain quote “It is never wrong to do the right thing."
