What Sustainability Means to Cardno
Through our Global Sustainability Policy, we will promote environmental equity and minimize the environmental impact of our business. We will act in a socially responsible manner with regard to our employees, clients, and supply chains, and have a positive impact in the communities in which we live and work. We will act and lead with integrity, in all of our activities and operations.
A message from our Global Senior Principal in Sustainability & ESG, Chris Kline
At Cardno, we pride ourselves on making a difference. Nowhere is that mantra more apparent than in our efforts to become more sustainable and to assist clients on their sustainability journey. Cardno’s strengths begin with our world-class team of environmental scientists, engineers, public and environmental health specialists, and policy experts. Our team works together to apply the best physical and health sciences thinking to ESG challenges and opportunities which our clients face. Our goal is to help our clients make a difference by improving the physical and social infrastructure for people around the world.
Cardno’s internal efforts to “walk the sustainability talk” are guided by our Sustainability Task Force. The Task Force is a global group of more than 30 dedicated colleagues including senior and junior technical leaders as well as key administrative and business development staff. Working together, this group advises Cardno’s leadership team on sustainability best practices and, moving forward, will play a key role in measuring and monitoring our sustainability commitments.
A brief note on language - one often sees the terms “sustainability” and “ESG” used interchangeably. While the terms are related, they do have different meanings. For Cardno, sustainability means finding innovative ways to protect, conserve and enhance our physical, social, economic and cultural environments, while also responsibly managing the resources and ecosystems on which future generations depend. “Sustainability” is the concept to which we aspire.
“ESG” on the other hand, refers to how we as a business deliver on this sustainability goal. Our ESG commitments help answer the following questions. What topics, specifically, will we measure? Against what standard will we benchmark our performance? How do we integrate transparency into our process? Just as importantly as described elsewhere on this page, Cardno offers a broad, integrated suite of ESG services to help our clients achieve their sustainability goals.
We hope you enjoy learning more about Cardno’s own sustainability efforts and we look forward to helping our clients achieve their goals.
