Civic Engagement Support Facility (CESF)

Location: Asia; Myanmar; Bago Region (East); Bago Region (West); Kayah State

The Civic Engagement Support Facility is a DFID-funded £3.5 million programme designed to support people in Myanmar to become better at articulating what they want from local government; monitoring what government does; and holding it to account.

Inclusive and accountable local governance institutions are critical for both effective service delivery and the deepening of democracy and stability. As facility manager, Cardno identifies and tests new ways to bring citizens, local authorities and other actors together, and supports policy dialogue on local governance reform. The Facility will focus on Bago Region and Kayah State initially, maximising learning and innovation based around initiatives taking place at the local level.
