Cardno provides essential consulting services to the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).

Our work with USAID spans economic growth; sustainable health systems; democracy, human rights and governance; public financial management; and infrastructure and environment. We share the Agency’s commitment to “ending extreme poverty and promoting the development of resilient, democratic societies that are able to realize their potential.”  Reflecting our global footprint, below are a few examples of our work with this donor agency.
For USAID/Uganda, Cardno manages the Strengthening Decentralization for Sustainability Program (SDS), leading capacity building efforts for district operations to deliver public and social sector service programs, such as education, human resources for health, and water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH). On the USAID/Uganda Private Health Support program, Cardno is improving the availability, affordability, and quality of private health services through public-private partnerships, promoting access to finance, grants management, and private health sector capacity development.
In Liberia, Cardno’s Engineering Services for Rural Roads Rehabilitation (ES3R) project is providing construction design and supervision services for 83.5km of farm-to-market roads, ensuring proper environmental compliance protocols and engaging with local infrastructure firms to build capacity on engineering design.
Cardno provides job growth stimulation on the Fostering Interventions for Rapid Market Advancement (FIRMA) project in Bosnia and Herzegovina (B&H), working to develop the competitiveness of three sectors of the B&H economy: wood, tourism, and light manufacturing, which comprise one-fourth of B&H GDP. The Cardno team also stimulates private sector development in areas affected by the 2014 B&H devastating floods, helping to restore operations and production capacity.
On the Business Enabling Project (BEP) in Serbia, Cardno is facilitating the reduction of legal and regulatory burdens on businesses by advocating for policy reform and improving both public financial management and access to finance.
Cardno is also leading the design and implementation of disaster management training for provincial government agencies in Indonesia on the Institutionalizing Disaster Preparedness and Management Capacity through Technical Assistance and Training Teams (TATTs) project.
