Monica’s job in marketing is anything but “run of the mill”.  She is part of an award-winning team that creates lasting change in communities throughout the Asia and Pacific regions.

“I really feel like I’m taking a small part in shaping the future of the world through the projects that we manage. It’s always very exciting and inspiring to be part of the wonderful works that we do,” says Monica.

As Marketing & Communications Manager in Cardno’s renowned international development team (Asia Pacific), Monica supports some of Cardno’s most fascinating  projects – from transformative programs to improve access to justice for the poor, to those that help young people in developing economies access a better education.

Her team sits in the top three Managing Contractors for Australian Government/DFAT and currently managing around AU$700 million worth of contracts.

Each day, Monica is designing and creating, writing online news, working with diverse global teams and helping with business development.

“Getting a job done is a breeze with such a great team around to work with. It’s a privilege to be able to work with such an intelligent and supportive bunch of people from five continents and over 10 countries regularly. We get to know each other and learn each other’s custom and cultures, which is fascinating.  Many of us become good friends,” says Monica.

As a Champion of the Women in Cardno program, an initiative to promote gender equality and career advancement at Cardno, Monica helps to promote Cardno’s support for events such as International Women’s Day and White Ribbon Day, to proudly showcase Cardno’s amazing work through our donor-funded projects in the area of gender and human rights.

Born and raised in Indonesia and now based in Melbourne, she was particularly moved by the passionate efforts of Cardno’s Indonesian team in organising a thought-provoking event to support a local non-profit organisation which provides assistance to Indonesian women victims of violence.

“I love working for a socially responsible company and there is no typical day for me. Every single day is different. And that’s what makes it exciting,” says Monica.

“There are new things to learn, new problems to solve, different people to work with, more people to help with and new ideas for improvement. It’s fun to exercise my creative mind every day in so many different ways.”
