Jared Snape

Lead Control Systems Engineer

As a Lead Engineer at Cardno, Jared specialises in mining and works across the renowned mining hub of Western Australia on process plants, bulk material ports, conveyor systems and stockyards.

He is part of an industry-leading team that provides engineering services to the mining, utilities, materials handling, oil and gas, industrial and petrochemical industries across Australia and around the world.

It’s a challenging, changing and exciting industry, and one that Jared says hinges on innovation.

“Cardno supports innovation and challenges the norm. Coming in to a good social environment with supportive people and being able to work as a team to come up with new solutions and technology is critical to the success of our projects,” he says.

“Our clients’ operations are regularly 24/7 and as such, weekends can find me assisting remotely to help with challenges or to get their operations back up and running. I spend a lot of time supporting and enabling new ideas, which makes every day different and interesting.”

A stand-out young performer at Cardno, Jared was nominated for Cardno’s annual Richard Kell scholarship, which gives young engineers the opportunity to participate in the highly-regarded International Federation of Consulting Engineers (FIDIC) Young Professionals Management Training Program.  It is one of four scholarships offered annually to Cardno staff around the world.

Jared says the nomination was great recognition of his contribution to Cardno, and that mentoring newer engineers is now an important part of his job.

“I try to guide a few of our younger staff, giving them any advice and sharing some of the lessons I’ve learnt from my own experiences,” says Jared.

“Cardno has supported me through my career development, so it’s important that I share what I’ve learnt and give something back.”
