Indonesia Australia Partnership for Infrastructure (KIAT) – Design and Implementation

Location: Indonesia; Asia

Cardno has been contracted by the Australian Government for the design and the first four years of implementation of its AU$300 million Indonesia Australia Partnership for Infrastructure (Kemitraan Indonesia Australia untuk Infrastruktur / KIAT), the next phase of Australia’s flagship infrastructure investment in Indonesia.

KIAT aims to support rapid, sustainable and inclusive economic growth and improved access to basic infrastructure services to help reduce poverty and promote women and economic participation and empowerment. KIAT will work with the Government of Indonesia (GoI) to build the Government’s capacity in infrastructure program management; provide technical advice on national infrastructure policy and regulations; and assist in project preparation of government-funded infrastructure projects and Public Private Partnerships. The initial focus of the Partnership will be in water and sanitation and transport, with the potential to move into other infrastructure sectors as the Partnership evolves in meeting GoI needs. The Partnership will also seek opportunities to support the negotiations and subsequent implementation of Indonesia Australia Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (IA-CEPA), through the provision of targeted support addressing the barriers to trade caused by inadequate infrastructure.

Cardno has been engaged by the Australian Government to provide management, coordination, implementation and support resources for the design and implementation of KIAT.
