The Charlotte Streetcar project serves Charlotte’s thriving central business district and provides essential connectivity to surrounding communities.
To avoid costly utility conflicts and unexpected delays, Cardno was engaged to deliver dependable subsurface utility engineering on a fast-tracked schedule. Cardno quickly mapped the horizontal position of underground utilities within the proposed corridor for the streetcar track, designating over 528,000 linear feet (100 miles) of utilities and preventing over 200 potential conflicts prior to construction. Cardno also identified overhead utilities, providing a conflict analysis that allowed the designer to resolve conflicts prior to construction.
Cardno met tight deadlines and reduced disruption to the community by mobilising additional field crews and coordinating closely with the Charlotte Department of Transportation and over 15 consultants and subconsultants.
