Global infrastructure services company Cardno Limited, today announced the appointment of Mr John Marlay as a Non-Executive Director effective 1 November 2011.
Cardno Chairman, Mr John Massey said that Mr Marlay’s extensive management experience with leading companies such as Alumina Limited, Hanson PLC and Pioneer International Group will be invaluable as Cardno continues its successful growth strategy both in Australia and internationally.
Mr Marlay is currently a Non-Executive Director on the Board of Incitec Pivot Ltd (appointed December 2006) and Boral Ltd (appointed December 2009).

Mr Massey noted the new appointment continues the evolution of the Cardno Board since the company’s Initial Public Offering in May 2004. Mr Marlay joins Mr Massey, Mr Ian Johnston, General Peter Cosgrove and Mr Tony Barnes as Non-Executive Directors.
About Mr Marlay
Since 2008, Mr Marlay has been a Non-Executive Director after retiring from his role at Alumina Limited. His current Non-Executive Director positions include Incitec Pivot (since 2006), Boral Ltd (since 2009) and Independent Chairman of Tomago Aluminium Company (since 2010).
From 2002 to 2008, Mr Marlay held the position of Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of Alumina Limited (AWC), a leading Australian company listed on the ASX and the NYSE which holds a 40% interest in Alcoa World Alumina and Chemicals Company.
From 1995 to 2001, Mr Marlay held various senior management roles with Pioneer in Australia and the United Kingdom and subsequently with Hanson PLC, a UK-headquartered international industrial company, which acquired the worldwide operations of Pioneer International Limited in early 2000.
Prior to joining the Pioneer International, Mr Marlay also held senior positions with James Hardie and Esso Australia Limited.
