Legal Services

Cardno offers substantial capability across the world in respect of the provision of expert witness services for court and other legal purposes. All members of Cardno’s senior litigation team are highly respected and experienced in their respective fields and provide significant professional expertise.

Many have published extensively and taught at a graduate or professional level.

The team is assisted by scientists, geologists, engineers, chemists and graphics experts with significant field experience and insight into underlying technical, regulatory, and business issues and their impact on litigation.
As well as expert witness services, Cardno's legal service consultants have extensive experience in claims, dispute resolution, pre-litigation activities, litigation support, and project reviews (peer reviews).
Potentially Responsible Party (PRP) Allocation/Litigation Support
Cardno has experience helping resolve clean-up responsibilities at large stake environmental sites, including complex multi-party sites, high-profile community sites, and environmentally and historically sensitive locations. We work with clients facing PRP liability and help determine the possible magnitude of liability, cost allocations, and recovery options by addressing multi-disciplinary technical issues necessary to establish credibility through multiple lines of evidence and the development of relevant defences.
Toxic Torts and Property Value Diminution
Toxic tort cases are complex and often controversial, requiring expert analysis, opinion and testimony from many scientific, forensic, environmental and litigation specialists. Cardno environmental chemists, geologists, hydro-geologists, toxicologists, engineers and economists have substantial experience testifying and broad experience consulting on many high profile cases. We have testified for cases throughout the world involving highly complex environmental issues, including property damage, clean-up costs associated with natural resources damages (NRD), and impacts to public health.
