Helping shape Australia’s ports industry

Cardno’s Neil Lawson, Strategic Development Director - Water and Scott Keane, Manager Ports and Maritime are helping shape the future of Australia’s ports industry by taking an active role in the internationally-recognised PIANC Australia.

Neil is the current Chairman, while Scott is a member of the Board and Chair of the Outreach Working Group. Additionally, Neil and Scott also hold roles within PIANC International, with Neil a member of the International Finance Committee and Scott Australia’s joint representative to the Maritime Navigation Commission.

The Australian national section of PIANC, the global non-political and non-profit organisation providing guidance for sustainable waterborne transport infrastructure for ports and waterways, was this year recognised for excellence by taking out the Best Performing National Section at the 2014 San Francisco Annual General Assembly.

A testament to the work of all of the Board members, PIANC Australia was judged to have performed better than all other nations through its increased membership, having an active Young Professional Group, organising local, national and international events and participating significantly in the Commissions and Working Groups of PIANC International.

Cardno congratulates Neil, and the PIANC Australia Board on this outstanding achievement.
