This Aussie at heart planned and saved for three years for the move to Australia. After 12 months of the standard backpacker holiday Stuart settled in his mother's home town, Perth.

After settling in Perth with family Stuart began working at Cardno BSD as a Business Unit Administrator. He found the job through a friend who was working with the company at the time.

"The people there were fantastic, a real team environment, with a work/life balance that worked for me," Stuart said.

After spending two years in Perth, Stuart and his partner Alix made the move to Sydney. Stuart was able to transfer to Cardno's Sydney office to manage the Division's support services.

"I was extremely fortunate in being able to move with the security of knowing I had a job when I arrived in Sydney," Stuart said.

"My role is really varied and I am exposed to new situations all the time. Sometimes it's a baptism by fire, but we are changing a lot of processes for the better, in particular I work with an inspiring management team, we are building something great here," he said.

What he misses most about the UK is his family and friends and of course, Sainsbury’s on a Saturday morning (only joking).

Stuart has been in Australia for four years now and is here to stay.

"I love the open space, I am outdoors and active every weekend. The weather and most importantly the lifestyle in Australia are amazing," he said.

"I actually enjoy the trip to work on the ferry, going past the Opera House and over the Harbour Bridge as opposed to braving the Tube and having your face wedged up against someone's armpit."

Stuart's advice to people thinking of moving is, do it, it doesn't matter if it takes some time to settle in over here, your family will want to come visit and you actually get to spend more quality time with them than if they lived down the road.

"I now have an even better relationship with my parents and I am trying to convince my sister to move here," he said.
