Matt Courtney - Division Operations Manager
Cardno Bowler, Hillcrest, Brisbane, Australia
|
What were the key ideas or initiatives of your winning submission?
I believe the opportunities to cross sell within Cardno are already present, but
we need to increase our uptake of these opportunities.

|
In my submission I identified the inhibitors to cross selling and then proposed
ways that we could mitigate against these inhibitors. I also encouraged a system
of greater recognition for Business Units who encourage cross selling for the greater
good of Cardno. My premise is that a Business Unit which only breaks even or makes
a small profit, but which is responsible for a large amount of cross selling that
generates profit to Cardno as a whole, should be recognised.
What does winning the scholarship mean for you?
It means a great deal to me. I feel honoured to have been nominated for this award
and then to have won it. I am proud of this achievement. I would like to thank Cardno
Bowler Division Manager, David Bowler, for his confidence in nominating me. I am
proud to represent Cardno at the FIDIC conference.
What did you receive?
Funding to participate in the FIDIC Young Professionals Management Training Program
and to attend the annual international FIDIC conference in New Delhi in September
2010.
How have you benefited professionally from receiving this accolade?
The FIDIC management coursework seems very relevant to my role in Cardno and I am
looking forward to participating in the course and the FIDIC conference.
