Recently I have worked on… The Ponds development, located between Quakers Hill and Rouse Hill in the local government area of Blacktown City Council, NSW. The development consists of approximately 750 residential lots, roads, civil works, services and landscaping works to be developed and released in stages.
The challenge, core to the developments potential commercial success, is the central drainage corridor incorporating creek rehabilitation and re-vegetation, extensive landscaping, public parks and open space areas. Approximately one million trees are to be planted in conjunction with conserved native vegetation and threatened species within this landmark development.
Cardno is the Project Manager throughout the masterplanning, design and construction phases of the project, working closely with Landcom, the consultant team, authorities and adjacent land owners. Cardno is responsible for appointing and managing specialist consultants, obtaining approvals and liaising with authorities, tendering of construction works, construction management and finalisation and registration.
Working on The Ponds... has yielded its rewards in many ways. I have gained valuable knowledge and experience through my involvement in coordinating and managing key tasks pertaining to the masterplanning, design and construction phases of the project.
Having responsibility at work... allows me to exercise my negotiation skills by closely working with Landcom, the consultant teams and other authorities. The project has also provided me with the opportunity to experience other disciplines by liaising with an extensive team of consultants addressing the various environmental, heritage, social and design issues particular to the project.
