Graduate Profiles

Bonnie Hall
Photo of Simon Steinhofer After graduating in 2006 with a Bachelor of Environmental Management (Majoring in Sustainable Development) with Honours from the University of Queensland, Bonnie Hall joined Cardno in August 2008. Bonnie is now an Environmental Consultant in the Environmental Services team at Cardno in Perth.

I chose Cardno because… of its good office culture, with a young, ambitious and innovative team. I have since discovered that along with all these attributes there is a wealth of experience and knowledge that is shared between sections, as well as the wider Business Units and Cardno companies.

My first experience at Cardno… involved a steep learning curve during my first few months, as I had limited experience in Waste Management. However during the challenges I’ve encountered, I have been well supported by my managers, and the Waste Discipline Leader who has many years of experience in the area.

Recently I have worked on…the development of a significant Resource Recovery project for a Regional Council in the Perth Metropolitan Region. The project ultimately aims to divert waste from landfill by converting it into a usable product (such as energy and/or compost), which I believe is the way forward for sustainable waste management in Australia. Considering such projects are cutting-edge, it is very exciting to be involved in the process. A typical day for me includes working with my team in the Waste Management section, writing technical reports, attending client and internal meetings, reviewing resources and attending conferences and seminars on waste.

Working at Cardno… provides me with the opportunity to work in the Waste Management discipline which has translated into a diverse and interesting range of work tasks. Ultimately I would like to manage my own projects in future, and further develop a strong knowledge base in the environmental management sector.
